Hello.
I am Satyaki Banik, a Graduate Student at the Department of ECE, North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC, USA (Go Pack!). I also work as a Graduate Research Assistant at the FREEDM Systems Center of North Carolina State University. I obtained my B.Sc. in Electrical and Electronic (EEE) Engineering from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET), Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2021. I joined NC State after serving as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Department of EEE, BUET (alma mater) for one year.
I have been doing my research on planning, operation and control of electrical power systems, especially with high penetration of DERs. My goal is to establish a research career in power and energy systems diaspore with multidisciplinary collaborations to approach problems related to clean energy and sustainability (focusing on SDGs 7, 11 & 13).

[05/20/2024] Starting Summer internship at Dominion Energy. I will be working in the Electric Transmission Operating - Special Studies team, located in Richmond, VA.
[05/01/2024] Completed Leadership in Resilience and Well-being/Penn Resilience Program at NC State.
[03/04/2024] Got elected to serve as the Secretary of Student Leadership Council at FREEDM Systems Center.
[04/13/2023] Got accepted into 8th Summer School on Smart Grid - "Sustainable Electrification of Transportation & Buildings in the Grid undergoing Decarbonization" organized by University of Salerno, Italy. Unfortunately cannot attend the school in-person in Italy!
[03/29/2023] Participated in Energy Trivia by Student Energy Club of NC State and became Champion. Yaay!
[02/19/2023] Presented research poster during 2023 FREEDM Research Symposium.
[01/29/2023] Won 2nd Prize in 2023 NC State and Wilson College of Textiles Make-A-Thon (Team 24). Our team proposed a sustainable solution in Waste category - "Moss-based urinal cakes that are biodegradable and do not contain nor emit harmful chemicals while conserving water". Find more here.
[11/12/2022] Attended 2021 NCAIE Global Leadership and International Engagement Student Conference at University of North Carolina - Wilmington. It was a wonderful experience to meaningfully engage with international learners, educators, and peers for a day.
[11/09/2022-11/10/2022] Attended the Fall 2022 meeting of CAPER at James B. Hunt Jr. library, NC State. Heard from top industry/university speakers within the energy field of engineering on “Innovative Approaches of Integrating IBR’s into the Grid“.
[07/22/2022] Joined NC State University as a Graduate student in ECE department. Will be working as a Graduate Teaching Assistant, plus a half-time Research Assistant at the FREEDM lab under the supervision of Dr. Srdjan Lukic.
